Ruby Lucille Chaney, age 87, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Cumberland Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on April 4, 1929 in Somerset, to the late Lee Hawk and Alice Price Hawk. Ruby was a homemaker and member of Bethany Baptist Church. She loved to sew and quilt. Ruby was married to Carl Chaney on March 5, 1947 and they celebrated their 69th Anniversary this year.
She is survived by her four sons, Roger Dale (and Sue) Chaney of Somerset, Gerald Lee (and Opal) Chaney of Somerset, James Robert (and Debra) Chaney of Somerset, and Johnny Allen (and Carole) Chaney of Scottsville, KY; six grandchildren, Dale (and Angie) Chaney, Sharon (and Jelf) Young, Gerald Chaney Jr., Ashley Chaney, John Eric (and Heather) Chaney, and Andrea (and Brian) Ford; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Violet Turner of Somerset.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Chaney, who preceded her on April 6, 2016; a daughter, Carletta Chaney; three brothers, Sam Hawk, Ancile Hawk, and Arthur Hawk; and six sisters, Elsie Whitis, Mary Bee Inabnitt, Nanny Hawk, Stella Hawk, Tressie Hawk, and Dorothy Hawk.
Her funeral service will follow the visitation on Tuesday, at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Bullock officiating. Burial will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
