Ethel S. Greene, 84, of Columbus, GA went to be with the Lord, peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday November 23, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. The family will welcome guests for visitation Sunday November 27, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the St Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA. A Celebration of Ethel's Life will be Monday November 28, 2016 11:00 am in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, followed by a Committal Service at Parkhill Cemetery with The Reverend Mike McBride officiating.
Mrs. Greene was born April 4, 1932 in Moultrie, GA to her late parents James and Jessie Pittman Smith. She was a member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God Church where she loved her church family and was always helping others and being involved in church activities. Mrs. Greene love to tend to her Roses and flowers in her yard; however, her passion was her family. She loved to have family gathering and for her and her husband to cook for their large family. She was loved by so many and will be missed by all.
Along with her parents Mrs. Greene is preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Greene and Sammy Greene; and two brothers, Silas Smith and David Smith. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Robert "Billy" Greene; one son, William DeWayne Greene; two daughters, Pamela C. Dale and Patricia Ann Papsis; two brothers, James W Smith and Jerry Wayne Smith; five sisters, Ella Mae Hambrick, Margaret Thaxton, Rosann Nevienski, Florence Rahm, and Jessie Lee Schmidt; ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family members, and many, many friends.
