George married Martha E Price in 26 March 1862 in Crawford Co Missouri, after their marriage he enlisted in the Confederate army like his brother Caleb. Towards the end of the war, he was captured, and sent to a union prison, Martha his wife was able to plead with President Lincoln for his pardon , he granted her request.
They had children, one of them William Long Bowles married in Los Angeles and died here in 1935.
George and Martha did survive till 1900 or more in Bonhomie Twp near St. Louis
