He was born in Austria about 1885. He served in the Polish military as a machine gunner. He came to the United States where he was a farm worker. He married Bertha Puzewska on August 12, 1920. They had one son, Raymond Kubal. Lawrence was convicted of murdering Mrs. Minnie S. Bartlett of Hempstead on June 22, 1921, as part of a robbery and was sentenced to death at Sing Sing Prison, Ossining, Westchester Co., New York. He was executed by the electric chair.
