William died of complications of a stroke on Oct. 14 at St. Marys Hospital.
He grew up on the family farm in rural Rochester. Graduating from Lourdes High School, he then joined the Army and later served in the National Guard.
In 1960 he married Darlene Bemmert and later divorced.
August 5, 1989 he married Barbara Shaw at Bear Creek Lutheran Church in rural Grand Meadow. The couple resided in Stewartville since 1989.
Employed by IBM for 30 years retired 1992.
Survived by his wife Barbara, a daughter Monica, and 3 sons Bob, Duane and Jeff. Step daughters Julie, Peggy and Vicki. 18 Grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren 2 brothers Dick and Jim and a sister Noreen.
