Obituary for my dearest, beautiful daughter, Rachel Marie Wright.

Our beautiful, head strong, life loving eighteen year old baby girl, Rachel Marie Wright, met our Lord and Savior in the air after a tragic car accident on the night of Tuesday, November 22, 2016; a few miles from her home after a long drive from college to come home for Thanksgiving.

She was known to her Wyandotte family as Tasihkwa’a ute’hke or Filly, and to her Osage family as Wah Kansa Moie or Wind Walking Woman; those who knew her best called her Rach or “Rabbit.” She was always full of joy, hope and had a kind word for everyone. Rachel loved her Creator God and knew her home in heaven was waiting and secured. Rachel and her family are members of Eastside Baptist Church in Miami, OK. and longtime residents of Wyandotte, OK. Rachel was a 2016 graduate of Wyandotte High School receiving many scholarships at her graduation to help further her education at Oklahoma Panhandle State University where she was currently in her freshman year pursuing a degree in animal science nutrition. She was an active member and Officer of the FFA chapter at Wyandotte. She was a treasured trumpet player in the Wyandotte High School band and loved to dance while the drumline played “green onions”. She was a member of the Baxter Springs Saddle Club. She was a member of the Ottawa County 4-H club and took her beloved Hoss to local, district, state, regional and national horse shows and championships throughout her entire life. If Rachel wasn’t on the back of a horse she wasn’t happy. Rachel loved riding her horses at her home along Spring River and on the many camping trail rides she went to with her family at Crag O Lea in Pineville, MO. This world will be a little dimmer without her bright soul but will forever be illuminated because God allowed her to be on this earth a short while.

She is survived by her parents, John Tracy and Rebecca Wright, her little sister, Sara and her little brother, JT all of Wyandotte, OK.; also her grandparents, Bill Bigheart and the late Nickey Bigheart of Miami, OK,; Tracy Wright of Grove, OK.; and Sherri and David Clark of Broken Arrow, OK. She is the great granddaughter of the late Ed and Juanita Bigheart of Pawhuska, OK.; the late Tracy and Gertrude Wright of Miami, OK., and Virginia and the late John Morgan of Commerce,OK. Rachel leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who will miss her dearly.

Celebration of life for Rachel Wright on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at ten o’clock in the morning at the First Christian Church 2424 N. Main Street Miami, OK. In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to be made at Arvest bank to the Rachel Wright Agricultural Science Memorial Scholarship which will be given annually to a graduating Wyandotte High School senior.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” John 14:27.
