Though Dana's life was full of health challenges, her personal accomplishments and vivacious attitude towards life were inspirational to all who were fortunate enough to know her. To know her was to love her. Not a day passed that Dana did not say or do something to enrich the lives of those she loved, including her immediate family and her friends who she cherished like family. Dana was a self-employed Avon representative for nearly 15 years. She was an avid supporter of animal rights, generously donating to foundations such as the local animal shelter and SPCA. She adopted a number of rescue dogs throughout her life and leaves behind her most recent baby, Rocky. Dana had a strong desire to support others like herself, who courageously confronted Muscular Dystrophy, and because of this she established lasting pen pal relationships. Her strong faith and relationship with God was a fundamental part of who she was and the driving force that led her to reach out to others. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Salinas for 35 years. Dana loved the simple things in life such as the ocean, swimming, and the color purple. She also took great pleasure in enjoying the finer things: her Boyd's Bears and Louie Vuitton collection.
Dana was proceeded in death by her adoring husband, Gary L Phillips Sr, and her beloved father, Bobby D Seals. She is survived by her son, Gary L Phillips Jr; mother, Jean Seals; sister, Laney Sofranko; niece, Kristalyn Sofranko; nephew, Cheyne Sofranko; grand-niece, Haley Sofranko; grand-nephew, Thomas Sofranko; aunts, uncles, and cousins. She also leaves a large church family and many lifelong friends.
