Mr. Jimmie Pope Stone, 87, died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House. He was born on May 2, 1929 in Lumberton, Robeson County, NC to Clarence Stone and Lizzie Elsie Britt Stone. He retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries and was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Miller; and 8 siblings. On January 3, 1959, he married Vivian Colleen Sibley, who survives of the home; also surviving are his son, Jimmie Stone, Jr. and wife Peggy of Lexington; daughters, Libbie McQueen and Belinda Efird and husband David, all of Thomasville; brother, Jack Stone and wife Carolyn of Thomasville; sister, Annie Bearce of Lincoln, Maine; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Hughes Grove Baptist Church with Pastor John Hill and Pastor David Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the church fellowship hall.
