Benjamin was born in the small village of Roseville, North Dumfries Twp; in 1856. His Baptism was at St. James Anglican Church in Stratford, Ontario on Feb. 24, 1856. He was one of 6 children born to William Perrin (1813-1889) and Mary Ann Newstead (1817-1895).
