Flora Mae (Martinez) Taylor, 85, of La Porte City, died Thursday, November 24, 2016 at her home of natural causes.

She was born September 16, 1931 in Colorado Springs, Colorado the daughter of James and Elisia (Lopez) Martinez.

She married Orlin Dee Taylor, Sr. on March 2, 1952 in Colorado Springs, Colorado; he preceded her in death on November 18, 2007.

Flora had worked as a nurse, factory worker at Mattel and in housekeeping.

She was a member of the V.F.W, A.B.A.T.E of Iowa District 16 and a Red Cross Volunteer. She enjoyed playing Bingo, yard sales and was a collector of all.

Survived by: two sons, Jim (Sandy) Taylor of Walker, Orlin (Sue) Taylor, Jr. of Waterloo; two daughters, Beverly (Lester) Griswold of La Porte City, Sharon (Lance) Husmann of Mount Auburn; 16 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Tony (Carmen) Martinez of Arizona, Victor (Patricia) Martinez of Colorado and three sisters, Mary Alice Peterson of California, Suzie Martinez of Colorado and Barbara (Jeff) Price of Colorado.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one grandson, Richard C. “Ricky” Coleman, Jr.; one brother, Raymond Martinez and two sisters, Maryann Flanagan and PeeWee.

Services 11:00 a.m Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City.
Visitation 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 at La Porte City Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church.
Cemetery West View Cemetery on Saturday, December 3, 2016 (following her Grandson, Richard C. “Ricky” Coleman, Jr.’s service)
