Denise A. "Nicey" Turner, 55, of Palatka, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her kids and grandchildren.
She was born Wednesday, Aug. 2, 1961, to the late Grady Howard and Marion Williams in Palatka. She was educated in the Putnam County School District and finished her education at Central Academy High School. She was a member of Jesus is the Way Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Errol Melendez. In her later years she was an ordained missionary. She enjoyed babysitting and raising her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and eating carbs as often as she could. In the words of her granddaughter, "She will always be remembered for hitting our fence with the car."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxie Turner, and grandmother, Jimmie Lee Wilson.
Survivors are her children, Obadiah (Veronica) McCaskill, Tiffany (Willis) Nelson, Antonio Howard, Travis (Mon Toya) Howard, Angela (Perry) Robbins, Irene Turner and Odessa (Ronnie) Smith; brother, Carton Dale Smith; aunts, Olivia Nelson, Claudia Johnson and Doris Williams; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Home going celebration will be Saturday, Nov. 5 at Church of God by Faith in Palatka, Superintendent Phillip Thomas III, pastor. Burial will be in Pattersonville Cemetery.
