Cynthia Bush Logan of Pelham Manor passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 13th, after a brave and valiant battle with cancer. She was 74 years old. Born in New York City the only child of Dr. Ralph Bush and Dr. Francis Hennessy Bush, she spent her childhood in Weston, CT. After graduating from The Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, CT, Cynthia would attend Hollins College in Virginia where she studied English Literature. She would study abroad in Paris at Sorbonne University before graduating and heading into the work world.
Career was never just work for Cynthia, she was always driven by a passion to contribute and to be a part of the world. After her graduation from Hollins College she began work with Eileen Ford and later with a series of publishing houses. In the summer of 1966 while attending a party in the Hamptons, Cynthia would meet David Logan. The two would be married in 1967 in Weston, CT and together they would begin a wonderful life. Cynthia and David chose to move to Pelham Manor to raise their three children: David Jr., Clark and Katherine. Cynthia's drive to communicate and contribute led her to become editor of the Pelham Sun. She would remain as editor for ten years during the 1970s.
Cynthia worked briefly for ABC News before deciding to begin her teaching career. She taught English at St. Catherine's High School in the Bronx, NY. Later she would return to school and receive her Masters Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. Cynthia spent the rest of her life as a social worker for the State of New York.
As passionate as Cynthia was about her career, her true passion was for her family and friends. Spending time with her grandchildren gave her joy. And she was a joyful person with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed life and opening her home to welcome friends and family. Her joy and goodness were infectious. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out.
Cynthia is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, David Logan and their three children: David Charles Jr. (Jessica), Clark Bush (Joanna), and Katherine Hennessy Oliver (Jack). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Declan, Dahlia, Clark Jr., Jerry, Ewan, Peter and John.
A gathering to honor Cynthia's life will be held at the family residence in Pelham Manor, New York, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 17th. Interment will follow on Monday, April 18th at Oakwood Cemetery, Long Island, NY.
