Mary Maxine Arrowood Bates, age 88, of Lexington passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Alston Brook in Lexington.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Avery Varnadore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday at the Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel.
Mrs. Bates was born in Cherokee, NC on April 14, 1928 to Pearly Deverow Arrowood and Bessie Almond Arrowood. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Mrs. Bates enjoyed fishing, camping, the place at the lake, and had a special place in her heart for animals and especially dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leon Bates; a brother, Wayne Hubert Arrowood Sr.; and three sisters, Zenna Mae Arrowood, Gladys Arrowood, and Sarah Brown.
Surviving are her son, Gary Leon Bates and wife Deborah of Lexington; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Lea Bates of Lexington.
