Mr. Jackie Steve Maxwell of Raeford, died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at his home at the age of 82.

Mr. Maxwell was born in Hoke County, March 6, 1933, to the late George W. Maxwell and Claudia Bullard Maxwell. He was the owner and operator of Jack’s Auto Service since 1954. His work and his hobby were the same. He was a loving husband father and family man. Jackie’s favorite thing to do was to go to the beach. This started early in his life. He would drive with a friend every weekend after his high school year and they would park the car and camp right on the beach. Then, as a group, would ride on the beach and down the coast from Ocean Drive to Myrtle Beach. Later he enjoyed going with Mary and the children. Through the years, as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren grew to a big 24 count, it took at least a 5 bedroom beach house for everyone. He always wanted his family with him to enjoy the beach as he did. He would fish some, sit and watch the waves. He always packed his binoculars and watched the shrimp fishing boats as they trolled by. Jackie was quick to look at Mary and say, “Let’s go to the beach. “They would throw a few things in a suitcase and hit the road. They would always stop at his favorite place - Sunset Beach. But while he would cruise the coast from his favorite spots, Ocean Drive to Myrtle Beach, he would stop and go to Calabash to eat at the many restaurants. He loved to stop at the flea market and check it out and speak with the many shop owners, who he knew by name. He was full of life and everywhere he went someone knew Jackie, and would say “Hello”.

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary M. Maxwell of Raeford, one son Steve Maxwell of Raeford, three daughters Teresa Maxwell-Miller and her husband John of Aberdeen, Jane Maxwell and her husband Jeff Bumgarner of Lansdale, PA; Donna M. Fellinger and her husband Kurt of Davidson, NC, nine grandchildren, Linda, Ashley, Justin, Maxwell, Brett, Jackie, Nathan, Jack, Henry, four great-grandchildren, Addy Grace, Garrett, Graham, and Scarlett.
