Kenneth E. Lister, Sr. 90, formerly of Texline, Texas, was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Texline, 402 Market St., Texline, Texas 79087 with Mr. Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will follow in Texline Cemetery, Texline, Texas. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Kenneth was born on October 22, 1926 to Robert and Esther Lister in Wellington, Texas. He was raised in Shamrock, Texas. After high school, he married Vera Ledbetter. He joined the U.S. Army and was trained as a tank destroyer. The war ended before he was slated to go to Europe. Upon returning he became a farmer in Wheeler County and started his family.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Vera in 1992; his oldest daughter, Sharon Kaye Youngblood in 2009; his wife, Marcy Duke in 2016; two brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Harold and husband Harley; sons, Kenneth Lister and wife Linda, Keith Lister, and Steven Lister and wife Kathy; nine grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm Friday, November 25, 2016 at the funeral home.
