As seen in some other early gravestones, the stone for Robert B. Brashears (also known as Brashers) has an error in the spelling of his name. The engraver either misread or misheard the Brashears/Brashers surname as Beshares, probably mistaking an 'r' for an 'e'.

Robert B. Brashears added the title "Esquire" after his name which, in early America, meant he had held some type of local office; for example, sheriff or Justice of the Peace.

Robert B. Brashears married Sarah "Sally" Hankins on 11 Nov 1808 in Roane County, TN. He was the son of Isaac L. Brashears and a grandson of Robert Samuel Brashears.
