Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, at Newcomer's, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Memorial Services will start at 2:00 p.m. in Newcomer's chapel.
A private family burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, KS, following services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Alzheimer's Association.
Bettie Hoffman was preceded in death by her father, Fred Haberlein, mother, Ruby, sister, Mervyl, and husband, Mel Hoffman.
She is survived by sons Alan and his wife Cindy, and Frank and his wife Sandy; grandchildren Cole, Alain and Logan; and nieces Carol Fouse and Marcia Hankin.
Bettie grew up in Kansas City, KS, where she attended Wyandotte High School, graduating in 1940. She also attended Wyandotte Community College, pursuing her interest in chemistry.
In December 1942, she married Melvin Hoffman. They remained devoted to each other for 66 years, raising their family in Prairie Village, KS, and later moving to Leawood, KS.
A woman of many interests, Bettie was a musician, outdoorswoman, and artist. She was active in Unity Church, Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls, a Kansas City artists' group, and the "Old Girls Club" from Wyandotte High School.
Bettie made the most of life, in attitude and actions. We will especially miss her cheerful laughter, genuine enthusiasm, unconditional acceptance and abundant love.
