Retired Lumberman's Funeral To Be Tomorrow
Laban T. Davis, 76, retired lumberman, died Sunday afternoon at 1:15 at his home, 1704 Winchester Avenue, following an illness of four weeks. His health had been bad for the past three years. Mr. Davis was born August 12, 1859, and retired from active work five years ago after an entire life spent in the lumber business. He was born at Catlettsburg, KY, the son of Hick and Nancy "Cumpton" Davis. Funeral rites will be conducted... Mr. Davis is survived by his widow, Mrs. Augusta Davis; two sons, Charles W. Davis of Ashland, KY and Laban T. Davis Jr. of Welch, WV; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Smith and Mrs Mandy Fortune of Ashland; and three grandchildren. Mr. Davis had lived in Boyd County his entire life and had spent about 50 years in Ashland. Pallbearers will be E.H. Gartrell, D.A. Smith, Earnest Scott, Fred Menefee, Paul Pollitt and Flem Webb."
