On same marker as Gordon and Craig TonagelBeverly Jane Tonagel was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her relationships with others and her music were the focus of her life.

She often said she could not imagine what her life would have been like without the classics and remarked about how it soothed her soul. She played her beloved violin for nearly 60 years and throughout her life, wherever she called home, she found a seat in the local orchestra. She was also an avid traveler and was able to fulfill her dreams of visiting most states and several countries in Europe. In addition, she loved to knit. Many of us were the recipients of one of her wonderful works of art.

Beverly's story began on February 3rd, 1933. She was born to Dorothy and Henry Barnett at home in Hammond, IN and spent her childhood in the quaint community of Markstown, IN. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, IN in 1951. After high school and brief employment she focused her energies full-time as a very active wife, mother and community volunteer. In recent years, Beverly was an active member and attendee of Christ United Methodist Church and was very involved in the Halls Senior Center.

Beverly died on Sunday, November 11th with family by her side. She was 79 years young. Until the end, she appreciated and embraced life's joys and remained strong in the face of more than her share of sorrows. If we could hear her energy, it would hum to the "Flight of the Bumblebee."

Her husband Gordon Tonagel, eldest son Brett Reid and youngest son Craig Tonagel preceded her in death. She is survived by son Brian Reid (Christine), daughter Pamela Hendriks (Andy), sisters Sandra Buono (Mariano), Linda Huber (Lyle) and grandchildren Robin Tonagel, Jennifer (Chris) Harris, Elizabeth (Josh Graves) Reid, Heather and Michael Ward, Ellie (Nikko) Vargas, Zachary Reid, Taylor and Lauren Hendriks. Beverly cherished her 5 great grandchildren: Rupert, Nicholas, Kiera, Kaylee, and Colton. In addition she will be dearly missed by her beloved nieces and nephews, and a great many dear friends. We are grateful to Beverly's friend Jean Mills for being her constant companion during these past few months.

Please join us on Sunday, November 18th, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. for the receiving of friends with a service to follow at 4 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church 7535 Maynardville Hwy, Knoxville, TN, as we celebrate and remember her life.
