John L. Parker, 84, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, September 3, 2006, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born August 1, 1922, in Corwin, Kansas, the son of Harrison Clinton and Pearl Mishler Parker. He married Betty A. Worth on December 20, 1945, in Chicago, and she preceded him in death on March 7, 2004. He is survived by two nephews, Ron Steward, of East Berlin, Pennsylvania, and Bud Crow of Pampa, Texas; and two nieces, D'Rene Beets of Amarillo, Texas, and Regina Brandfas of Rogers, Arkansas. Mr. Parker owned and operated Parker's Texaco at South Main and Michigan Avenue in Jacksonville. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Parker was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
