RAYMOND (RAY) CARLSON, age 86 of Katy, Texas and formerly of Sealy and Houston, Texas passed away on January 3, 2007 in Columbus, Texas. Ray was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 15, 1920. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for seventeen years and was honorably discharged at the rank of Major. After WWII, Ray moved to Houston, Texas where he started his own very successful home building business and for the next fifty years built homes in Memorial, Tanglewood, River Oaks and other developments in southwest Houston. Ray was a fifty year Mason, member of the American Legion, lifetime member of the VFW in Katy and was one of the founders of the VFW Post in Sealy, Texas. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. After retiring from the building business, he moved to his ranch in Sealy, Texas where, with the help of his son, built his own home. He enjoyed doing all the ranch work himself but ill health forced him to sell the ranch and move to Katy, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan of San Antonio.

Ray is survived by his children: son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Darlene Carlson of Richmond, Texas, Daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Gary Hurley of Plano, Texas and son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Lisa Carlson of San Antonio, Texas. Grandchildren: Ray Hurley of Dallas, Texas, Debby Snow and her husband, Brent of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Erin Simper and her husband Kevin of Richmond, Texas, Kelli Matula of Richmond, Texas, Don Carlson and his wife, Joy of Derry, New Hampshire, James Grady and his wife Jackie of Fort Benning, Georgia and Patrick Grady and his wife, Angela of Columbus, Indiana. Ray is also survived by eleven great-grand children, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 3:00 PM at Mission Park South Cemetery, 1700 S. E. Military Drive, San Antonio, Texas.
