Julia G. Summerville

Julia G. Smail Summerville, 80, of Gilpin, died at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday (April 30, 2003) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Born Aug. 13, 1922, in Leechburg, she lived in Gilpin all her life.

She was a 1939 graduate of Leechburg High School.

Mrs. Summerville was a member of Kiski Unity Free Methodist Church in Allegheny Township, and the church J.O.Y. Club.

She enjoyed country music, playing bingo, working with birds, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Walter L. "Pete" (Jean) Summerville of Hackettstown, N.J. and John A. (Melinda) Summerville of Gilpin; a daughter, Mrs. Edith (Don) Baker of West Leechburg; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Summerville in 1990; her parents, Ellis and Clara Howard Smail; three brothers, Charles Smail and two in infancy; and three sisters, Ella Burkett, Priscilla Smail and Lucinda Cline.

Friends will be welcomed by her family from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in CLAWSON'S, Second at Main, Leechburg. Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. in Kiski Unity Free Methodist Church. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Martin L. Lee. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Gilpin.
