Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning…

Vernon Monroe Bailey, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away Nov. 23, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was under the care of his loving family.

Vernon was born Aug. 5, 1939, in Independence, Kan., to Cameron Bailey and Opal Haddon Bailey. He grew up and attended schools in Kansas and graduated from Derby High School. He also attended Operating Engineers and became a certified engineer.

In Nov. 1961, he married Judy Young in Wichita, Kan. To this union were born three daughters, Robin, Traci and Dee. Vernon and Judy were later divorced. In 1970, he moved to Idaho Falls, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.

Vernon was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking and working on and building vehicles. He loved to cook and enjoyed eating.

Vernon is survived by his daughters, Robin (Kirk) Guidinger, Traci (Chris) McNeil and Dee (James) Rader, all of Idaho Falls; brother, Leon (Billie) Bailey of Heber Springs, Alaska; sister, Vivian Sumpter of Mulvane, Kan.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cameron and Opal Bailey, and his brother-in-law, Raymond Sumpter.
