Marilyn was born August 26, 1933 in Butler, the daughter of the late Herbert and Grace (Hazlett) Bookman. She was a 1951 graduate of Butler High School and later lived in Loudonville from 1965 until moving to Texas in 2001.
She was a homemaker, a Mansfield Plumbing Products employee, and had also worked at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville. Marilyn was a member of Greer Wesleyan Church and enjoyed listening to Christian music and knitting blankets for premature infants. On March 24, 1951 she married Cecil D. Matthews and he died May 17, 1994.
She is survived by a son, Dennis (Linda) Matthews of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters: Marcia (Ronald) Freund of Schertz, Texas, and Deb (Ray) Zimmerman of Orrville; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren and a brother, Ken Bookman of Larue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother Ralph Bookman and three sisters: Linda Bookman, Marian Bates and Helen McConachie.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 1 p.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Rev. Howard Burnett officiating. Burial will be Loudonville Cemetery. Friends may call Monday one hour prior to services from noon to 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, Ohio, 44691.
