Carl Johan Birger Johnson was born at Asarn, Sweden September 17, 1879 and died at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge on August 5, 1927, age 47 years, 10 months, 18 days.

He came to this country with his father and sister to Wenona, Illinois. The mother and other children came the following year. He moved to Wilke, Iowa in 1903 and bought a farm near Stratford. He returned to Wenona and married Marie Mathilda Appleton on February 23, 1905. Seven children were born. In 1915 they moved to Dayton. His wife died August 3, 1922. He married a second time on January 13, 1926 to Miss Martha Nelson of Dayton.

He leaves his wife and seven children, Lloyd, Faye, Carl, Roy, Edith, George and Glen. He also leaves his father, August Johnson, Wenona, IL; two brothers, Edward, Alden, IA and Harry of Marseilles, IL.; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Swanson, Parton, Sask., Canada; Mrs. Gust Classen, Boone, IA; and Mrs. Hugh McGinnis and Mrs. Julius Isaacson, both of Chicago. He was a member of the Lutheran church. Burial was in the Dayton Cemetery.
