Obituary

Geneva Gollahon died Nov 20, 2016, following a long illness. She died in her sleep Sunday morning, in her home north of Shawnee. She was born Geneva Joyce Terry, May 23, 1930 in the family home near Holdenville, OK. She grew up on the family farm near Hulsey School east of Holdenville and attended Moss High School where she met her husband, James Franklin Gollahon. They were married Dec 29, 1948 in Holdenville. In 1957 they built a house on Bryan Street and were Shawnee residents for many years. He died in 1964.
Geneva was a long-time member of Hilltop Baptist Church east of Shawnee. She worked at the Ben Franklin store a number of years and later at Shawnee Medical Center Hospital, as a lab clerk. She retired in 1996 to help, along with her daughters, with the care of her recently widowed son and his children. In 2009 Geneva and her family moved the house she had helped her husband build to its present location, to be near her daughters and their families.
Geneva is survived by her brother Carl Terry of St Louis, MO, daughters Jeannie Malone and husband David, Donna Erickson and husband Doug, both of Shawnee Meeker area, son Victor Gollahon and wife Chris of Tulsa, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Gollahon, parents Otis Terry and Beulah Gentry Terry, brother Wolford Terry, sister-in-law Mary Terry, daughter-in-law Darlana Reiter-Gollahon, and grandson Jim Gollahon. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery Saturday, Nov 26 at 2:00 pm.
