Sally McKinney-Kuh, passed away on Jan. 1, 2007, in Aberdeen. Sally as known by family and friends was born on July 10, 1914, in Little Sauk, Minn., to Edgar Ansel Murch and Mary Ellen Curtis.

The family moved to Yakima County, Wash., in 1925. Sally married Raymond McKinney on Jan. 25, 1936, in Yakima, Wash., and moved to Grays Harbor. They bought a home on Saturday Way (now Anderson Drive) and in 1957, sold the property to the hospital and moved to Rice Street where she has lived for 50 years.

Raymond died in 1977, and Sally married Gus Kuh in 1978, in Tacoma, Wash. Gus died in Aberdeen in 1990.

During the war Sally worked in the Boeing sub-plant in Aberdeen as a riveter in the tail turret of B-17's and rib frames of B-29's. She worked there until World War II ended. She also worked in the clam canneries and for Grays Harbor Veneer three different summers.

Sally joined the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in 1975. For 18 years she was the chairman in charge of the bingo games and provided cookies and candies at the Grays Harbor Cowase Center. She received a reward for baking icebox cookies, bagging bananas and candy for those 18 years.

She was especially fond of animals and always had at least one dog and two or three cats of her own. For many years Sally was a member of PAWS and took in stray dogs and cats and found homes for them with good families.

Sally served on the Election Board from 1958 until 1998, when her sight became too bad to read. She worked every election during those 40 years.

Sally was a member of the Harbor Assembly of God in Hoquiam.

She is survived by her son, Ronald of Aberdeen; grandson, Rodney McKinney of Virginia Beach, Va.; granddaughter, Veronica Goddard of Olympia; and great-grandson, Majerle Goddard of Tumwater.
