John was born December 1, 1937 in Ulen, MN to Nick and Mary (Kvepaleck) Theis. He grew up and attended school in Ulen. On August 9, 2008 he married Vi Mayer at St Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo, ND. John was a supervisor in the sugar industry in North Dakota, Minnesota and Hawaii. He enjoyed fishing, Vikings football, Yankees baseball, NASCAR racing, and following his grandchildren’s activities. John was a devout husband, father and grandfather, and Christian Catholic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
John is survived by his wife, Vi; sons, John (Michelle) of Champlin, MN, Ryan of Herzliya, Isreal; daughter, Dana (David) Christianson of Fairmont, MN; step daughter, Jackie (Tim) Tveter of Waconia, MN; grandchildren; step grandchildren; brother, George (Sandi) Theis of Ulen, MN; sisters, Mary Ann Larson of Detroit Lakes, MN, Helen Rud of Fargo, ND, Dorothy (Lonnie) Crabtree of Audobon, MN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Nicholas “Sonny” Theis.
