Aaron Dahl, age 37, of Aberdeen, SD, and formerly of Milbank, SD, died on Sunday, November 20, 2016, in Aberdeen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Milbank with Rev. Thom Bowsher and Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn officiating. Burial will follow in the Milbank City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 25, at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.

Casket bearers will be Jerid Dahl, Kyle Dahl, Casey Dahl, Brad Drager, Derek Erlenbusch, Justin VanVeen, Travis Anderson, and Steven Bell. Honorary bearers include all of Aaron's family, friends, and loved ones.

Aaron James Dahl was born on July 24, 1979, in Aberdeen, SD, to Jim Allen and Mary Louise (Wingen) Dahl. He spent his early years in Wilmot, moving to Milbank in 1987. After graduating from Milbank High School, Aaron made his home in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen, SD. He worked as the manager of Subway, Hoag/CWD Food Distribution, and at Rent a Center. Most recently, Aaron resided in Aberdeen and was working at Budget Furniture.

On June 8, 2002, Aaron was united in marriage with Melissa Gerlach. This union was blessed with two beautiful sons, Ethan James and Owen Walter.

Aaron was a fan of Minnesota sports, always rooting for the Vikings, Twins, and Wild. He enjoyed participating in fantasy football and baseball with his son Ethan and took pleasure in hunting with his friends and family. Aaron will be remembered for his helpful and loving nature. He will be deeply missed.

Aaron is survived by his parents, Jim and Mary Dahl of Milbank, SD; brothers: Jerid (Ashley) Dahl and children August and Isla of Brookings, SD; Kyle (Alessandra) Dahl of Seattle, WA; Casey (Lisa) Dahl of St. Louis Park, MN; sons, Ethan and Owen Dahl of Aberdeen, SD; ex-wife, Melissa Gerlach of Aberdeen, SD; girlfriend, Rea Karst and sons Jace and Brady of Aberdeen, SD; aunts: Roxie Dahl of Aberdeen, SD; Teri (Rod) Holzkamm of Reeder, ND; Susan (Shawn) Buer of Lemmon, SD; Linda (Don) Erlenbusch of Aberdeen, SD; uncles: Mark (Cheryl) Dahl of Denver, CO; Shane (Amber) Ingles of Lemmon, SD; Pat (Theresa) Wingen of Vermillion, SD; Bruce (Susie) Wingen of Thornton, CO; Monte Wingen of Sioux Falls, SD; Bill (Jessica) Wingen of Spencer, IA; grandparents, Dallas and Jan Ingles of Shade Hill, SD; and many cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his cousin, Robyn Holzkamm; uncle, Boyd Dahl; paternal grandfather, Frank Dahl; paternal great-grandparents: George and Florence Dahl; Ed and Marge Bieber; and Ralph and Lolly Ingles; maternal grandparents: Ernest, Marie, and Mary Kay Wingen; and maternal great-grandmother, Anna Schafbaurer.
