She was predeceased by her husband, Walter W. Bryant; her only child, Dreama Lee Bryant; and siblings, David Blackwell, Nannie Wagner, Frances Johnshrud, Virginia Batton, Ann Mahanes and Mary Pace.
She is survived by nieces, Barbara Lynch and Mary Blackwell, Pat Mahanes; and nephews, John Wagner and Steve Mahanes. She is also survived by many dear and special friends.
Irene joined the Waynesboro Brethren Church at age 19 when she moved to Waynesboro and was a faithful and loyal member during her lifetime. She loved her church and her church family.In 1942, Irene was employed by DuPont Company. She left the company in 1947 to become a full time mother and homemaker. Irene was later employed by Acme Visible Records for 20 years before retiring.During their marriage, Irene and Walter opened their home to several special young people, Max Webb, Edward Renfro, James Bryant and Franklin Dooms.Irene loved working in her flowerbeds and spending time with family and friends. She was well known for her quick wit, laughter and great sense of humor.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016,in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Todd Crowder. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Frank Dooms, Gary Whitesell, Brandon Whitesell, Brian Whitesell, Roger Farris, and Chris Balsley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deborah Farris, Cathy Davis, Pamela Cox, Beth Balsley, and Patricia Dooms.
