Mrs. Cooper was married to Douglas Cooper June 25, 1966, and had two sons: John Cooper of Black Mountain, North Carolina and Eric (Sabrina) Cooper of Cave Spring. Sheryl was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving her are two sisters: Debbie Cole Landers of Gadsden, Alabama and Terri Cole Helton of Rome. In addition, she leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Virginia Cooper and sister-in-law Charlotte Wilkerson of Rome.
Mrs. Cooper was a 1964 graduate of West Rome High School. She was employed at Inland Container until her first child was born in 1970. Her children were her life. All the boys' friends were welcome at the Cooper house and she was known as the "Cool-Aide Mom." Later after her children were older Sheryl became a Para-Professional at Elm Street Elementary, a job that she took much pride in filling. Her life was filled with many friends and Sheryl was a great encourager to both friends and family. She always found time to call or send a note to all she called "friend" when she thought they needed an encouraging word.
Most of all Sheryl loved her Lord and could pray without ceasing. She and her family were long-time members of West Rome Baptist Church. If we could see her now, we would see her with a clear mind, standing tall, and walking "Streets of Gold."
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 2pm at West Rome Baptist Church. The Rev. Ken Oates will officiate.
The family will receive friends at West Rome Baptist Church on Saturday from 1pm until the service hour. At other times, they may be contacted at the residence.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd, P. O. Box 163, Rome, GA 30162-0163 or to Crisis Pregnancy Center, 311 Redmond Road, Rome, GA 30165.
