Silvio Sabaini was born the fifth of eight children to immigrants Remo and Carolina Sabaini. They were a very poor family even before the Great Depression. Silvio was an ambitious, diligent man, who worked as a salesman for Garafalo Wholesale Groceries during the Depression. He was such an outstanding salesman that no one ever believed his reported income. He proved what he could do, however, when he and his brother Pompeo opened Sabaini Bros. Motor Sales a Hudson dealership in Blue Island, IL. When Hudsons were no longer manufactured, Silvio and his brother opened Sabaini Pontiac, later known as Star Pontiac on Chicago and Western Aves. Chicago. He was a very industrious man who managed his money with the fear of a depression era child.

Silvio had heart problems since he had rheumatic fever as a child. He had several heart attacks during his adult life. Finally, he had bypass surgery. He gave his life to the Lord just the day before he went into the hospital. He recovered wonderfully from the surgery and jogged five miles a day until he suddenly became too week to run at age 73. A subsequent surgery revealed he had esophageal cancer. He went home to the Lord.
