Gloria Georgene Todd, age 87, of Bigfork, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016

Gloria was born March 11, 1929, in Pierson, Iowa, the only child of George and Helen (Heinberg) Greene. The family moved to the Spring Lake-Wirt area in the 1930s. Gloria went to the Deer River High School where she stayed in the dormitory. She graduated in 1947, then married Joe Todd on July 30, 1948. They had three daughters and lived on a farm. In the early 1960s, Gloria went to Bemidji State University to become an elementary school teacher and taught second grade in Prior Lake, Minn. When the family moved back to northern Minnesota, Gloria worked as a school aide in Squaw Lake, then as a nurse’s aide in nursing homes in Grand Rapids and Deer River. She taught adult Sunday school at the Deer River Evangelical Covenant Church.

After retiring, Gloria nursed her husband of 55 years until his death in 2003. In 2007, Gloria moved into assisted living at Bigfork Valley Villa, then later moved into the nursing home and finally into Aspen Circle, where she died.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Green; her husband, Joe; and her daughter, Cathy.

She is survived by two daughters, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
