Lee spent his life serving his country as both a soldier in the United States Army and as a park ranger for the National Park Service. His NPS career took him to Sequoia-Kings Canyon, Death Valley, Hawaii Volcano, and Yosemite National Parks. During his career in Yosemite, he was the chief of law enforcement from 1971 to 1992, before retiring to the community of Mariposa.
Leland remained active in his retirement, enjoying activities such as writing short stories and working as a private investigator. He was also an active member in many corporations and clubs, such as Lions Club and Rotary. He was a man of many talents, including his abilities as an elaborate storyteller, artist, singer and chef.
Saturday, November 14th – Service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, followed by graveside burial.
