It appears that I may be a relative of S.A.B., however I can not find out who this is.
This gravestone is near a stone of L.S.B. This stone is that of Lemon Scott Bates(memorial #13078341) (1858-1881) who drowned on the same date.
During the night of July 3, 1881, Lemon Scott Bates drowned crossing the Missouri River in a leaky skiff. A person near the bridge heard multiple cries for help, never seeing anyone. A couple of days later a newspaper article reported that a "Bates" boy was missing, but never identified him.
Could that boy be S.A.B.? Could it be a cousin or nephew of Lemon. Lemon was not known to be married or have children.
Can you help?
