Ruby graduated from Rippey High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Raymond Lee on September 27, 1930. They had three children, Jerry, June and Judy. Raymond died November 3, 1957.
Ruby remained in Dawson and on November 20, 1962, she married Nicholas Belmer. Nicholas died June 20, 1970.
On October 14, 1973, Ruby was united in marriage to Nicholas DeJong. They moved to Perry to make their home. After his death in 1999, she remained in her home until moving into the Perry Health Care Center on October 14, 2002.
During her life, Ruby was a housewife, and also worked at the Priebe poultry plant, Meadow Gold Ice Cream factory, and was a serving cook for the Perry schools.
She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dominoes, listening to Western music, and gardening.
Ruby was preceded in death by her three husbands; four brothers, Harry Floyd, Lloyd and Mahlon; two sisters, Hazel and Blanche; and her daughter, June.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Lee and wife, Francie of Dawson; her daughter, Judy Kepple and her husband, Kenneth of Newton; her sister, Freida Ethell of Rippey; eight grandchildren, Dennis Ulrich and his wife, Sharon of Rippey; Tom Ulrich and his wife, Cathy of Estherville; Robert Ulrich of Perry; Sherry Hill and her hsuband, Larry of Urbandale; Rod Sutton and his wife, Sheryl of Newton; Randy Sutton and his wife Terri of Grinnell; Pamela Terrill and her husband, Marty of Perry; and Gary Lee and his wife, Carla of Tucson, Arizona; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
