Richard J. "Dik" Mikolajewski, Jr., 54 of 700 N. Downing St., Piqua, died on Friday, May 2, 2003 at 1:37 pm in his residence. He was born in Piqua on February 16, 1949 to the late Richard J. and Dorothy Koon Mikolajewski. He married Beverly J. Fraley on August 9, 1975 in St. Teresa Catholic Church, Covington; and she survives.

Other survivors include a son Samuel D. Mikolajewski of Piqua, a daughter Ella M. Mikolajewski of Piqua, two brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Jane Mikolajewski, Edward and Cindy Mikolajewski all of Piqua, a sister and brother-in-law Dot and Tom Hampshire of Piqua, sister-in-law Joyce Paldino of Piqua, brother-in-law Doug Fraley and his wife Sue of Grove City, mother-in-law Martha Fraley of Piqua, nieces and nephews, Beth Hampshire, Jessica Hampshire, Dan and Leah Hampshire, Jill Hampshire, Brad Hampshire, Megan Hampshire, Brian Mikolajewski, Katie Mikolajewski, Kevin Mikolajewski, Jon Mikolajewski, Michelle Mikolajewski, Angie Mikolajewski, Eric Mikolajewski, Lyndsay Mikolajewski, Chris Fraley, Alex Fraley, Micah Paldino and Liz Paldino.

Mr. Mikolajewski was a 1967 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School and attended Wright State University. He began a thirty-three year career at the Piqua Emery Cutter & Foundry Company culminating with him serving as Vice-President of the Company. He authored articles which were published in the American Foundryman's Association Journal, one of which was entitled "Families of Iron". He was a member of the Hemloch Sporting Association, the Knights of Columbus Archbishop McNicholas Council #3344, an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he served on many committees and worked on numerous festivals and projects including the continuous 24-prayer vigil at St. Clare Chapel. He was also active in the Lehman High School Community as evidence by his comprehensive involvement in many projects and events. He enjoyed his family, supporting catholic education, and serving his church. JMJ

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 7, 2003 at 11:30 am in St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Frs. Thomas J. Grilliot, Anslem Boeke, and Angelo C. Caserta as Con-Celebrants. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 pm in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home where a prayer service will be conducted at 3:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Broadway, Piqua, OH 45356, the Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development, 850 S. Main St. Piqua, OH 45356 or the Bethany Center, 339 South St. Piqua, OH 45356.
