Rita Newton Pierce, 78, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, with family at her side.
Rita was born Oct. 11, 1938, in Montgomery, Ala., to George and Louise Newton, and spent her childhood in Prattville. On Nov. 2, 1957, Rita married David D. Pierce. The Pierces spent most of their lives in Dillon, Colo. Rita is survived by husband, David; son, David Pierce Jr.; daughter, Virginia Pierce; son, Matthew Pierce; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Jennings; and brother, Thomas E. Newton. She was pre-deceased by parents, George and Louise Newton; and grandchild, Lillian Pierce. A gathering to honor Rita will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo.
