Watis "Wally" Mearl Wallace, 87, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Provena McAuley Manor. He was born November, 6, 1919 in Washington, IN. Wally was a member of St. Joseph Church, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He belonged to the Recycled Teenagers Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus council # 736.
Wally was an Aurora resident since 1951. He retired from Barber-Greene in 1983 where he was employed as a machinist for over thirty one years. He also worked as the dairy manager at the Galena Street A & P. He was a member of the Tiger Club and the Lehnertz Ave. Association.
He is survived by wife, Kathryn (Brummel) Wallace; his three children, Joseph (Lauren) of Pullman, WA, Marcia Jean Shoppe of Clarkston, WA, Dr. James Neal (Jan) Wallace of Gadsden, AL; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Belcher of Monroe City, IN, Ruth Francis of Indianapolis, IN; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ursula (Arthur) Wallace; a sister, Edythe; three brothers, William Wallace, Arthur Wallace, Joseph Wallace; his first wife, Mary (Srachta) Wallace.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2007, at 12:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to St. Joseph Church at 1:00 PM; Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2007 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 PM with a Liturgical Wake Service at 4:30 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, IL. 60506. (630) 631-5500. www.daleidenmortuary.com
Wally's last words were "God bless everyone".
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Wally's name may be made to the St. Joseph School Endowment Fund.
