Emma H. Smith, 85, of Farmland and formerly of Jasonville, passed away at 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 7 at Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center in Albany. Born Jan. 6, 1922 in Mecca, she was the daughter of Burl L. and Orpha (Barker) Hardesty. She had worked at Walgreen's in Indianapolis for several years. She was a member of the Jasonville Baptist Church. Survivors include: nieces Sharon Davenport of Spencer, Diane Sells of Farmland and Mary Johnson of Ridgeville; and a nephew, Larry Hunter, of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Dale Hunter and Karl R. Smith; two brothers, James Hardesty and Robert Hardesty; and one sister, Josephine Puckett. A graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland with the Rev. Brad West officiating.
