WASHINGTON, D.C. — Mrs. Alma Mae Poston Littlejohn, 84, formerly of Shelby, died Monday Nov. 13, 2006, in Washington, DC. She was born May 10, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Hester and Claudia Phillips and was a native of Shelby.
She attended Green Bethel High School, in Boiling Springs and the Charlotte School of Cosmetology. She was a former member of Eskridge Grove Baptist Church and later a member Roberts Tabernacle CME Church. In, 2003, Alma moved to Washington, DC, to live with her sister, Katie Lee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Nathaniel Littlejohn; two sisters, Lucille Hines and Lucy Mae Richardson.
She is survived by one son, Larry D. Littlejohn (Flora) of Shelby; one sister, Katie and Michael Laborn of Washington, DC; nephews, Charles Smith of Hyattsville, Md., and William Poston (Lorraine); nieces, Rejineta Carroll of Upper Marlboro, Md., Athena Wilson, Claudia Veney and Antoinette Weaver all of Washington, DC; and friends, Leedesia Brooks and Helen Barrow.
