Served as a 2nd lieutenant in Co. G, 6th Vermont Infantry, and the 13th Veterans Reserve Corps.
Frederick Marius Kimball was a resident at Glover, Vermont, when he enlisted and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant on February 3, 1863. He was mustered into Company D, 6th Vermont Infantry, later that same day, but just 10 days later he was transferred to Company G. Lieutenant Kimball was wounded in action at Bank's Ford, Virginia, May 4, 1863, but recuperated and was returned to duty. He was wounded again at Funkstown, Maryland, on July 10, 1863, this time more severely. 2nd Lieutenant Kimball was discharged for his wounds on October 22, 1863, and transferred to the 13th Veterans Reserve Corps. The following year he married Susanna Submit Hoyt and after the war ended he located to Lawrenceville, Virginia. By 1877 he was living with his family in Missouri and by 1900 he had established himself at Topeka, Kansas, where he remained until he died.
