Curtin E. Copney

Curtis Edward Copney, 82, of Bell, died Sunday (April 27, 2003) in Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lower Burrell.

Born April 27, 1921, in Black Mountain, N.C., he lived in Bell since 1949.

Mr. Copney was a self-employed refuse contractor before retiring in 1983.

He was a member of Family Christian Church, Truxall, Bell, and the Bell Township Police Auxiliary.

He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Brown Copney; a son, Robert (Cindy) Copney of Vandergrift; six daughters, Daisie Jones of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Roberta (Herbert) Easley of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Margaret (Hilbert) Martin and Helen Copney, both of Pittsburgh, Carol Copney of Florida and Mrs. Gloria (Willie) Daniel of Apollo; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence (Colleen) Copney of Avonmore.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dolly Copney; his parents, Edward and Lucille Flack Copney; and a sister, Louise Copney.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 100 Owens Drive, Apollo, where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Jeff Croce will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
