Marcia A. Shorts Jenkins

Marcia, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Marcia was the daughter of the late Marian E. and James M. Shorts, Jr.
Marcia was an investigator for the State of Delaware Violent Crimes Compensation Board, retiring in 2002 after 27 years of service. She received an award from the National Association of Crimes Victims Compensation Board for taking into her home a victim of domestic violence and her child.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Stanton; a 1955 graduate of P.S. Dupont HS, where she attended reunions every 5 years and was a member of the Reunion Committee for 40 years.
Marcia enjoyed going to the beach with her girlfriends, playing slots at Dover Downs and having pool parties. She loved all animals especially her puggle, Livia.
Marcia was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather N. Wojdak, who passed away at the age of 10; her beloved dog, Honey and dear friend, Michael Shaffer. Survivors include her "adopted family", Pamela Sue Taylor and her husband Kelly; Goddaughter Heather N. Taylor; Jeremy Ruff, Natalie Thompson and Stephanie McCall (Brandon), Catherine McCabe (Gregory), Paul Jenkins, III (Lisa Perry), 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her longtime special friends, Meredith Hutchinson, Frankie and Pasquale Mignogna and Eleanor (Ellie) Shaffer.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 26 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at St. JAMES EPISCOPAL CHURCH MILLCREEK HUNDRED, 2106 St. James Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Her family suggests contributions in Marcia's memory to St. James Church.
