FRANCES ELLIS IS CALLED BY DEATH
Resident of Cass Expired Friday at St. Anthony Hospital

Mrs. Frances Ellis, 64-year-old resident of the Cass community, died Friday in St. Anthony’s hospital in Terre Haute. Cause of death was carcinoma of stomach.

The Cass woman underwent a major operation recently at the hospital.

A member of the Church of Christ of Cass, Mrs. Ellis was well known in the Cass community. She moved to Cass from the Ellis community near Linton.

Born near Petersburg on Dec. 13, 1870, she was united in marriage to James Grimes, who passed away seven years ago. About four years ago she married Samuel H. Ellis.

Survivors include the husband; three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Gabbard of Terre Haute, Mrs. Effa Emrie of near Dugger, Mrs. Helen Bowling of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Nellie Christenberry of Hollywood, Cal.; one son, Fred Grimes of Indianapolis; one brother, Mat Burton of Petersburg.

The body was prepared for burial by the Newkirk Funeral home in Pleasantville and then removed to the home. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon from the Church of Christ in Cass. Interment will be in the Samaria cemetery.

Mrs. Frances N. Ellis Died in Hospital at Terre Haute

Mrs. Frances N. Ellis, a long-time resident of the Ellis community east of Dugger, died at the St. Anthony hospital in Terre Haute Friday morning at 11:15 o’clock. Mrs. Ellis had been ill for about six months. She submitted to a major operation a week ago.

Mrs. Ellis had lived at Cass for the past four years. She was born in Petersburg, Indiana. She was first married to James Grimes, who died seven years ago. Four years ago, she married Samuel H. Ellis.

Surviving her, besides her husband, Mr. Ellis, are four daughters: Mrs. Elsie Gabbard of Terre Haute, Mrs. Effie Emrie of Dugger R.R., Mrs. Helen Bowling of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Nelle Christenberry of Hollywood, California; and one son, Fred Grimes, of Indianapolis. One brother, Matt Burton of Petersburg, also survives.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Church of Christ at Cass, Monday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment will be in the Samaria cemetery at Ellis.
