Herbert Friedrich Louis Vorderstrasse, 78, Plymouth died Thursday, August 3, 2006, at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. He was born December 24, 1927 on a farm west of Plymouth. Herb attended school at District #17. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War he was stationed in Alaska. He then farmed for 7 years before going to work at the Jefferson County Road Department. He married Lois (Bockelman) Petracek May 14, 1982. He was a member of the Plymouth American Legion Post #243 for over 55 years, was on the firing squad and was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church, rural Plymouth.




Survivors: wife, Lois of Plymouth; sisters, Alvina Holz and husband William of Sidney, NE, Hulda Scheiding and husband Harvey of Blue Hill, NE, Leoda Yost and husband Delbert of Crete; brothers, Carl Vorderstrasse and wife Milda of Fairbury, Erwin "Ervie" Vorderstrasse of Greeley, CO, Elmer Vorderstrasse and wife Doris of Lincoln, Freddie Vorderstrasse and wife Jo An of Fairbury; stepchildren, Linda Bockoven and husband John of Seward, David Petracek and wife Tina of Douglas, Amy Petracek of Beatrice, Stacy Petracek of Plymouth; step grandchildren, Jennae Patracek, Nickolas Bockoven, Tammy Bockoven, Tyler Bockoven, Jesse Siemens, Hunter McEvoy, Hannah McEvoy; step great grandson, Kanyon Tibbs; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents, Casper and Louise (Pittnaur) Vorderstrasse.




Funeral: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Plymouth. Maynard Kellerman P.M.A. and Pastor Duane Holst officiating. Family prayer service: 9:45 a.m. in church basement. Visitation: Harman-Wright Mortuary, PLYMOUTH Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. then Tuesday at the church one hour preceding services. A memorial is established to Peace Lutheran Church of Beatrice Hospice with church elders in charge.
