William F. Burton

William Francis Burton, 75, of Plum, died Sunday (April 27, 2003) in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born Nov. 30, 1927, in the Wilkinsburg section of Pittsburgh, he lived in Plum since 1966.

A veteran, he served in World War II with the Navy.

Mr. Burton was a laborer with the Laborers International Union of North America #373 in Pittsburgh. He also worked at A&P Bakery in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh.

He enjoyed farming.

Survivors include five sons, Barry D. (Barbara P.) Burton of Vandergrift, Thomas W. (Michelle) Burton and Brian A. Burton, both of Plum, Terrance F. Burton of New Kensington and James P. (Christine) Burton of Penn Hills; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia (Vincent) Denoble of Wexford; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret V. Cowley Burton; his parents, Calvin E. and Anna Taylor Burton; a brother, James E. Burton; and two sisters, Dorothy Irwin and Mary Anthony.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in STEPHEN P. DOLENCE JR. FUNERAL HOME, Plum, where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. John J. Lolla, pastor of Plumcreek Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum.
