After a full life, "Chris" left his earthly body and went to be with his Lord, quietly and naturally. He was born in Unionville, Missouri, the first child of Walter and Annie Christian. At eighteen months of age, his mother passed away and his father was called away by WWI, so he was reared on his maternal grandparent's farm near Unionville.

He dropped out of high school after his sophomore year and went to live with relatives near Missoula, Montana. There, he was able to find ample opportunities for employment during the Depression.

At the outset of WWII, he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corp and was stationed stateside for the duration of hostilities in Europe and the Pacific. While stationed in California, his army vehicle broke down near Kingsburg. Through circumstances, he met and finally married Mavice Renstrom, a Kingsburg native, in 1945. After his post-war mission in France, they settled down for the rest of their lives in her home town.

After his discharge, he was hired as a district manager for the Consolidated Mosquito Abatement District in Selma and continued in that position until his retirement in 1979.

Retirement was a great life. There was the cabin at Hume Lake in the summer, Morro Dunes trailer park in Morro Bay, and caretaking for George Jackson at his ranch in Cambria.

He also loved being a member of the First Baptist Church where he was active over the years as a Deacon and a volunteer in the Boy's Stockade.

Chris leaves behind Mavice, his wife of 61 years; and two children, Marty and his wife Rita, and Sara Staunton and her husband Bob, both of Kingsburg.

He also leaves three grandchildren, Danny Wallis, Mandy Rocha and Eric Staunton; three great-grandchildren, and half-sisters and half-brothers and their families in Missouri and the midwest.

A Memorial Service will be held in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Kingsburg on Sunday, January 7, 2007, at 2:00 p.m.
