Dominick was born in Massena, New York. He was the son of Italian immigrants, Pasquale and Margaret Perri Catanzarite.

Dominick was reared in Massena which he nostalgically referred to as 'back home'. He enjoyed traveling there occasionally to visit his many friends and family members.

He came to southern California in October of 1938, at the age of 21 and a short time later, his parents joined him. In 1939, the family moved to the San Joaquin Valley to work in agriculture and settled in Fresno where Dominick went to work as a mechanic at a local garage.

In 1941, he answered his country's call and went into the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, until July of 1944, and then went to Europe until the war ended. Dominick achieved the rank of Tech. Sergeant.

After the war, Dominick worked for Valley Motor Lines as a truck driver delivering freight throughout the valley. He retired in 1978, after 32 years as a Teamster.

To keep himself busy after retirement, he repaired lawn mowers and edgers in his garage.

Dominick was an avid sportsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp, and he especially enjoyed bowling. He also was a member of several clubs and organizations including the Son's of Italy, in Massena, New York, which he helped to establish, I.C.F. Branch 185, Moose Lodge, Edison Social Club, and Teamster's Retiree Club. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Branch 1968 in Lodi.

Dominick was a fun loving person who enjoyed being around people. Among his many talents, he loved to dance, especially doing the Jitterbug. In fact, it was at a dance at the Rainbow Ballroom that he met his future bride and love of his life, the former Angie Spiropulos. They were married on November 26, 1944, and enjoyed the past 62 years together.

Dominick is survived by his wife Angie; his two sons and their families, Gerry and Cheryl Catanzarite, and their son Dominick, and Fred and Joan Catanzarite, and their sons Jeremy and Darin.

Dominick is also survived by his sisters, Betty Burns of Fresno, and Ann Hare of Stockton; his brothers, Frank Catanzarite and Tony Catanzarite of Fresno, and Salvador Catanzarite of San Andreas; as well as many nieces, nephews, and his beloved great-grandchildren Alicia and Krista.
