James Frederick “Jim” Sawyer, 67, of Hoyt, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016.

He was born February 12, 1949, in Holton, KS, the son of Elmer and Ellen (Guffy) Sawyer. James was a 1967 graduate of Soldier High School and a veteran of the US Army. He was employed with Cargill for over 40 years, until his retirement. Jim married Sandra Long on April 26, 1968, in Topeka, KS.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years; two sons, Shannon and Travis both of Holton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Junior Sawyer and Henry Sawyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Wilbur; and sister, Agnes (Sawyer) Tannahill.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Soldier Cemetery, Highway 62, Soldier, KS.
